Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik heaped praise on Arjun Tendulkar for notching up a century on Ranji Trophy 2022-23 debut. Karthik was delighted with the fact that after displaying his potential as left-arm fast bowler for his state team in List A and T20 career, Arjun, came out at top with the bat in first-class cricket.
Besides that, Karthik lauded Arjun’s decision of moving from Mumbai to Goa for better prospects in order to achieve success in his professional cricket and add a new lease of life to his career.
I have seen Arjun quite a bit: Dinesh Karthik
“I have seen Arjun quite a bit you know. He is more of a left-arm medium pacer who can bat a bit, but he definitely had credentials with the bat. You could see that he can hit a ball, but getting a hundred I think is quite special. Kudos to him, many more to team, we generally don’t associate Arjun Tendulkar with the bat but it is good knowing that he has worked hard on his batting,” Karthik told Cricbuzz.
“I have seen him in England when he used to practice with the younger boys there, he had the potential to obviously do well. Credit to him, moving states, taking that big gamble and then taking in the opportunity with both hands,” the cricketer-turned-broadcaster added.
Arjun registered a magnificent century on his FC debut on Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy 2022-23 fixture between Goa and Rajasthan on Wednesday, December 14. Notably, even his legendary father Sachin Tendulkar had achieved this same feat 34 years ago at the age of 15. The batting maestro had slammed his maiden first-class century against Gujarat at his home ground in Wankhede Stadium.
The 23-year-old has been associated with the Mumbai Indians in the IPL for a couple of years but still to make his debut for the five-time champions. He has an economy rate under 7 in T20 cricket.
