The third match of the 12th edition of the Big Bash League will see a contest between Brisbane Heat (HEA) and Melbourne Renegades (REN). The two sides had much in common last year, but nothing positive. They ended in the bottom two positions, they won just three games throughout the season, and faced a humiliating exit with a negative run rate.
While Brisbane Heat finished seventh last season with three wins and 11 losses, the Renegades finished at the bottom-most position with ten losses from 14 matches and a negative NRR of -1.477. Both teams will be charged up this time around and will be aiming to overcome last season’s woes when they meet on December 15, 2022 (Thursday), at the Cazaly’s Stadium in Cairns.
Venue: Cazaly’s Stadium, Cairns.
Date & Time: December 15, 1:45 PM IST
Telecast & Live Streaming: Sony Sports Network and SonyLiv App
The pitch at the Cazaly’s Stadium in Cairns assists the bowlers more than the batters. Scoring runs in the first innings is difficult and the side chasing usually wins games on this surface. Thus, the captain winning the toss might look to bowl first.
Predicted Playing XIs for HEA vs REN
Colin Munro, Jimmy Peirson (c & wk), Sam Billings, Matthew Renshaw, Max Bryant, Jack Wildermuth, James Bazley, Ross Whiteley, Mitchell Swepson, Mark Steketee, Xavier Bartlett

Probable Best Performers from HEA vs REN
Probable best batter: Andre Russell
Caribbean star Andre Russel put up some good performances in the recently concluded Abu Dhabi T10 League while representing the Deccan Gladiators and was a part of the winning side. His 62-run knock helped Gladiators make their way into the finals and he will be expected to repeat similar heroics at the BBL too.
Probable best bowler: Akeal Hosein
The 29-year-old Caribbean star will be expected to be at his best while representing the Melbourne Renegades at the BBL. He showcased some fine performances at the Abu Dhabi T10 League and picked up 10 wickets in nine games, finishing as the joint fourth-highest wicket-taker of the tournament.
